What's the output of:

# cat /proc/cpuinfo
for the slow VPS? I have several databases exceeding 1mil records and haven't experienced the issues you've described. MySQL5 on both a Link4 and a Link6 run speedy quick...

thanks for the help guys on the new one it seems to be running well, and thanks dan for the pm, i only just saw it otherwise i would of taken you up on that very helpful offer.
