    Unhappy My time is coming...

I've been watching this transition from the beginning, and silently wondered when my time would come. I'm on a Link-5 Xen VPS, and so far I've not received anything other than the initial email more than a month ago.

From the sounds of it, I should fear this move. Downtime of any sort will kill my business, and reduce my income. Does anyone have good alternatives to VPSLink they can recommend?

It seems to be hit or miss. Some people have problems and some don't. We received an email on 3/29 about the new ownership and migration to Boston. We received an email on 5/4 that our account would be migrated in 3 days, another on 5/6 that it would be migrated "tomorrow", and then nothing until 5/19 that the account had been migrated. The actual migration went smoothly without loss of data.

I just had the misfortune to discover that VPSLink may have already moved my VPS... WITHOUT FIRST WARNING ME. I received the initial email two months ago (3/29), which promised "we will be in frequent communication with you to walk you through the migration process". Aside from a bare-bones FAQ and that initial email, there hasn't been any communication.

I noticed that my server was rebooted eight days ago, and so I logged into the control panel and discovered some interesting notes:

    stop ok 2010-05-20 20:27:04 2010-05-20 20:27:21

    mount_snapshot ok 2010-05-20 17:39:31 2010-05-20 17:39:34
    create_snapshot ok 2010-05-20 17:39:29 2010-05-20 17:39:31
    transition_start ok 2010-05-15 10:57:55 2010-05-15 10:57:00

Based on this information, it appears that VPSLink moved my Link-5 account without any advance warning. The IP's still ping to Seattle, so it's possible they only attempted the migration and then restarted my server (again, without notice).

Either way, this doesn't bode well.

SO MUCH FOR A WARNING EMAIL!!!
