    Unhappy yum returns Forbidden error

I assume that vpslink does not do automatic updates.
    Is this true?

I figured I would set up a cron entry and do it myself, but it does not seem like yum works at all.

I'm on Centos with 128MB Ram.

    I did this:
    rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__*
    chattr -R -i /var/lib/rpm
    rpm --rebuilddb

    Then did:
    # yum list updates

    Got the following errors:
    Loaded plugins: fastestmirror
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
[Errno 14] HTTP Error 403: Forbidden
    Trying other mirror.
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: base. Please verify its path and try again

    Any suggestions?

seems to be a name resolution problem. I forget what the default vpslink name servers but just edit resolv.conf and change to google's, verizon's, or even opendns name servers. That are quite a few public international name servers you can use.

opps. vpslink discontinued their repos. As you can see from
You can edit the repository to point straight to centos default ones.

Default has been discontinued for some time.

When did you install the VPS? I may need to adjust a template to ensure the yum repos are pointed to the correct location.
