    Default starting daemon remotely

    Hello,
i registered my program as a service in /etc/init.d and i can start it when logged in to VPS. but it is running as long as the shell is active (as long as i am logged in). How can i make it run after i logged off?
I don't want to register my program at bootup. i need to start/stop it occasionally)

    thank you

maybe your script is faulty but i suppose you can use screen to ensure it runs after you logged off if you didn't want to fix your script.
