What I was trying to ask is, "does the VPSlink repository provide security updates as well?" Evidently not.

However, your reply pointed out that the VPSlink repository isn't updating, which is much more important than my question!

I ran "apt-get update" followed by "apt-get upgrade" yesterday and had a few packages upgraded. After reading your reply, I put the stock debian.org repository back in my sources.list, and did the update/upgrade run again. It found and installed 15 updates.

I'm afraid this greatly reduces my confidence in the VPSlink shared Debian repository.

no security updates are never pushed to general repos first, that are updated later. For security updates Debian -- Security Information should always be used for many reasons.

Our default template configuration on Debian 4.0 "Etch" should look like this:

    cat /etc/apt/sources.list
    Code:
deb http://debrepo.mirror.vpslink.com/debian stable main contrib non-free
    deb http://security.debian.org stable/updates main contrib non-free
Please let us know if you have noted any changes to the security.debian.org configuration in one of our templates.

The VPSLink Shared Repository is definitely not intended to supplant the Debian Security Repository.

oops, my mistake, I just notice that I had specified "stable" with
    Index of /debian
instead of "lenny". Sorry about that.

did that solve your problem? I'm going to assume it did.

If it didn't would you get me the list of packages that are missing the the repo?

    The site debrepo.mirror.vpslink.com is down.

This site has been down since I moved over. Looks like they botched the data center move for this server. It's been down for a few weeks now. Does anybody care? Is there anybody in the SysAdmin group that bothers to make sure that, oh I dunno, the default Debian repository for the all of the Debian VPSs is working?

Nobody's received a ticket on it? Nobody verified that it was working as part of the migration test plan? Do you even have a test plan, or move stuff over on a whim?
